Dear Mrs. Tuke,
I’m blessed to have had many wonderful and inspirational teachers throughout my life, but none have come close in the many ways in which you have taught me how to think, believe, and approach life.
High school was a rollercoaster of experiences and emotions, but the 50 minutes that I was able to spend in your class each day of my junior year was a safe place. Your classroom and your presence created an aura of warmth and comfort. Your English class was my time to escape the stress and difficulties of my day, and instead be uplifted by your smile and laugh.

You were always someone I could trust. You were waiting with open arms to comfort and guide. In my difficult moments, you listened, understood, and felt my emotions alongside me. In my moments of success, you supported me and told me how proud you were. Mrs. Tuke, you were and always will be a bright light.
You taught me to see the light in every situation. You taught me that the hard times will eventually pass, and that I will find my place, just like you found yours. You taught me to believe in myself and what I am capable of. And most importantly, you taught me that it is okay and important to fail in life, because failure is how we grow, learn, and mold ourselves to be stronger.

Your words of advice and encouragement still guide me years later, as I navigate the circuitous path that is college. I may never be able to truly describe the impact you have had on me, but I want you to know that every smile you have given me, every word of advice, and every conversation, both big and small, have helped shape me into the person I am today.

Thank you for being you.
With love,
Selma
Selma, I really enjoyed reading your letter. The impact that our teachers have had on us is so much more than we know, but I can tell how much you have appreciated the impact that Mrs. Tuke has had on your life. I’m so happy that she was able to bring so much joy and positivity to you. Great work!

I especially liked this post because I too had an English teacher that everyone adored, especially myself. I think English teachers tend to, for the most part, simply be wonderful people and can be someone we can go to to talk with or look for guidance. I really appreciated your use of pictures throughout to emphasize the relationship you had with your English teacher, and frankly how universal it seems to have an amazing English teacher. Your teacher must have had a very big impact on you, and you really elucidated your gratefulness for her in this letter. Great post.
