I could not have asked for a better person to experience France with. You are incredible welcoming and kind, and I could never thank you enough for opening your home to me.
I am beyond grateful that you and your family cooked for me, despite my restrictive diet, and took me to the grocery store, telling me to pick out whatever food I wanted. I vividly remember you loading up my backpack with my favorite snacks everyday, those little pastries with sugar coating, french bread, and assorted nuts. What I am most grateful for, however, is that you did not judge me for eating an entire baguette for breakfast everyday.
My favorite part of the night was when you would crack open my bedroom door and shyly ask if I wanted to watch Netflix. We would sit on your bed, under your small, twinkling lights, and you would turn on the english subtitles for me while we watched Teen Wolf and Gossip Girl.
Another fond memory of mine is when you snuck me onto public buses using your sister’s ID, and we would laugh at the fact that I looked nothing like her.
There are so many other memories I hold of us, like walking along the beach in Normandy and you taking me to buy French outfits, and I will cherish them forever. You are one of the reasons that my experience in France was so magical, and I am sad you have not yet been able to come to the United States. Tu me manques, et j’éspere te voir bientôt!
Love,
Sarina
Sarina,
I really love reading this letter to your french friend. It seems like you were able to create a very close bond with Julia which is amazing. I applaud your descriptive writing as it allows me to visualize aspects of your life in France. I can picture Julia stuffing your backpack with snacks and you two sitting under the “small, twinkling lights” watching Netflix.
Lastly, I want to say that I LOVED how your final sentence is written in French. This makes the piece so personal between you and Julia and was such a creative writing style!
Great work!

You describe some 1st rate wholesome shenanigans in this piece here. What I love in particular about this piece is that really shows the beauty and wonder in exploring other cultures around the world. Although we may live differently, it is very interesting how people across cultures are similar! Like the capacity for shenanigans, compassion, and respect.
“My favorite part of the night was when you would crack open my bedroom door and shyly ask if I wanted to watch Netflix”
That’s so awesome and wonderfully described! I can really feel her eagerness to get to know you while you simultaneously demonstrate her kind nature and spirit.
It sounds like you had quite an amazing time with you’re french friend(s) and I’m sure the bonds will last forever.
I have to say what stuck out to me the most about your writing was your ability to capture your friends loving ways. She definitely does not sound AT ALL like someone who would judge you for eating a baguette.
Thanks for a wonderful read!
My absolute best wishes Sarina

This was such a fun letter to read! It really showcases the bond that you and your friend created while you spent time together in France. I like how you included so many of your different memories together like how she always packed your favorite snacks for you and your bus trips. I also thought it was so sweet to read about how whenever you watched Netflix together she would always turn on the English subtitles for you. It sounds like you had so many fun adventures together in France! I really enjoyed reading your letter. Great job!
