Catawba rosebay
Something catches my eye,
Something I have never seen before.
The petals of a flower,
A color I adore.
The bright purple hue,
And highlights of white.
Accompanied with underlying tones of blue,
Mark the flower.
I have passed by this plant for years,
But never seeing what was truly there.
Something about not being allowed out,
Has made me become more aware.
Now I have begun to the see,
The beauty of our Earth.
As I have not taken the time before,
To truly appreciate its worth.
We must protect our home,
And all the beauty it holds.
Because one day,
It may go away.
Kelsey, I really like how chose to write a poem for this assignment. It is very well written and has a nice rhythm to it. My favorite line was “Something about not being allowed out,
Has made me become more aware” because I think that this is something that we can all relate to, especially because of this assignment. Your last two stanzas are so important and something that needs to be said. After we go back to our normal lives, we have to continue thinking about the Earth and how to protect its beauty.

I really like how you chose to write a poem for this assignment. I relate to what you wrote in your third stanza, when you said that it took you years to realize what was actually there. I wrote something similar, since I walked down the same road I have like every day. Also, although your ending is pretty scary, it is really meaningful.

I thought it was pretty emotional how it took such a tragic time to recognize the little things in life. You may have seen that flower for years and walked past it without even giving it a thought. But now, you finally see it for what it really is, what it was all along. I think your post is relatable for most people right now because we are all stuck and are recognizing how many things we take for granted and just rely on always being there. I also liked how you brought in the topic of needing to protect our environment before it is too late. The lines, “Because one day…It may go away.” were really powerful and they were a great ending to a well written post.
