Walking along the stream with two of my dogs provides peace to me in a stressful time. My mom points out to me these smelly and giant plants populated all along the streamline.

When I started walking through the woods, it brought me back to my childhood when my parents would take my family over to a trail and we would spend two to three hours walking through the woods with our dogs. As the dogs pull us through the woods smelling everything, we peacefully observe our surroundings. Walking past the streams and the creeks reminded me of all the times I went to the local river and messed around in the water. An insurmountable joy came upon me as I went deeper and deeper into the woods. The time I came up against a rattlesnake also popped into my head.

The adrenaline rush of hearing the snake rattles through my body. I remember warning others about the snake to avoid anyone from getting injured. Going through the trees and along the paths brings back many memories with my family. Although the woods have many unknown and dangers, it is still a great place that offers peace and tranquility in a time of stress and uncertainty.
βOne thing that immediately catches my attention as I scroll through your post is the multiple pictures embedded that provide the scenery as you tell your story. It makes it feel as if we are being taken on the adventure with you. I also like how you tied everything into past memories! The second picture with the stream conveys how peaceful and serene being in those woods are. Despite the peacefulness of those woods, your third picture, of the rattlesnakes, remind me why I shy away from venturing through the woods. Though, maybe Iβll try it again in the future when I can get over my fear of snakes. π β -Ciana Gadut

One of the things I liked most about your post was how you talked about how the walk you took recently brought back so many memories from your childhood. The beginning of your piece seemed so calm and peaceful; it made me jealous of how close you are to the trails you and your family walked on. And then you talked about your run-in with a rattlesnake, and I became a little bit less jealous. I also really liked all of the pictures you included throughout your post, great job!

I like how vividly you describe the peace that you feel in the woods. Nature is the one thing that is constant through such an uncertain time and I feel the same way when I am immersed in it. It definitely brings me back to my childhood as well. I appreciate how this post recognizes some of the positives of being home, like reliving joyful childhood memories and spending time with your family. I could really feel and relate to how you were feeling on your hike, your word choice was great!

Austin,
I really liked how you had more than just one picture throughout your post. It was a very nice touch and guided me with you through your story. You also did a great job bringing in the part about your childhood memory with the snake! I think it is nice that you are still able to focus on the tranquility the woods offer you despite the current state of your world, like your own little escape. π
