Österreich
As we drive through the hills, the meadows of flowers create an infinite, colorful blur across my window.
Tulips of every color catch my eye.
We pull over to gather a handful.
Even as it starts pouring rain, each petal remains vivid against the gray backdrop.
.
The summer air feels clean, and scenery welcoming.
The moment we reach our destination, the sky brightens and clouds part,
becoming wispy feathers in the bright blue sky.
I want to bask in every ray of sunlight possible.
Let them radiate through my skin and into my veins.
.
I want to run down the mountainside with the rushing river beside me,
and Cocoa, the family dog, following my path trying to keep me safe.
I need to stay here for eternity.
These are the pure moments my soul has longed for.
.
It feels as though all of the world is at peace.
Or at least from my current point of view, it deceivingly seems that way.
The pace of life here is slow.
No stress or anxiety constantly breathing down my neck.
So much different from what I am accustomed to, in the most perfect way.

I really liked the visual imagery in your poem. It made me feel like I was in Austria with you. I also love the image you included; It really matches the scenery set up in the poem. Great job.

Your poem has such a warm, calming tone that made me feel more relaxed as I was reading it. The visual imagery accompanied with the beautiful picture made me feel as though as I was with you. I especially loved that I could relate to this poem, as I have felt this way while in a foreign country multiple times. There is something so freeing and wonderful about being in a place where no one knows you and you are there purely for enjoyment. It feels as though you have no responsibilities or stress, and I feel like you encapsulated that feeling in in your stanza in which you pictured yourself running along the mountainside. Furthermore, your genuine love for traveling shone through in this piece, and I can tell that you are a free spirit who longs for adventure.

Reading your poem, I felt as though I was with you in Austria’s serene landscape. Your vivid imagery of a much simpler and peaceful place gave me a feeling of calmness and warmth. I really liked how you ended your second stanza with “I want to bask in every ray of sunlight possible.
Let them radiate through my skin and into my veins.” I especially can relate to this exact feeling of closing my eyes, opening up my arms to the Sun, and forgetting all my worries for a few moments. I admire your adventurous spirit to see the world and reflect on your experiences, pure moments like those are what makes life worth it. Thank you for bringing some light into a dark time with your poem!

The imagery of your poem was fantastic. Although I have never been there, I was able to get a good sense of how it makes you feel and start to picture it in my mind. I liked how all of the things you described were very simple but they are the things that you remember and the things that meant the most to you. I really enjoyed the lines “I need to stay here for eternity./These are the pure moments my soul has longed for.” That was a perfect description of the longing of a place, and definitely one I could relate to.
