our entire lives have been put on pause
schools closed, we shelter in our homes
although it may seem as though all has been lost
there is hope for us yet
.
it is now the simple things that we long for
a hug from a friend
coffee at our favorite spot
even a simple handshake
.
and although this time is full of pain
and all we can think of is what we are missing
we have to think about all that we have
and learn to appreciate it
.
we must remember
that all of the little things
the things that we take for granted
are the things that we miss the most
.
after all of this is done
and we have gone back to our busy lives
i hope that we have learned
more means less

I really enjoy the sentiment of “more means less”. I agree that when I think about everything we are missing, it’s the small moments I miss the most. I like how you emphasized how important it is to appreciate these things that typically don’t get appreciated, especially after the quarantine is over. We have definitely learned a lot from all this and I think the message of your poem is one of the most important lessons.

First of all that picture is amazing. I really enjoyed your poem, I think you really hit the nail on the head. It’s easy now to think of and appreciate all of the things in our normal life that we take for granted, but once our lives are revamped again we might lose that focus. Hopefully we are able to remember the lessons that this time has taught us.

Great poem! I love the contrasting of the negative and positive aspects of this pandemic. We all miss our old lives and wish we were there now. The university experience is not the same at home, but this is an experience that is very rare for everyone. At the very least, we get to expand our telecommunication skills. Hopefully, our lives will go back to as normal as they can after all this.
