Oh, the Places I’ll Go (Hopefully)
Kelsey McNamara

My envisions for my future change on a daily basis, probably due to my extreme inability to make decisions in life. I literally waited until the last day possible to choose which college I was going to attend, and even today, I still question whether my major is right for me. If I continue to pursue my biochemistry degree, I hope to have the opportunity to work with kids through medicine. I also like the idea of working with law enforcement, maybe as a forensic scientist. At the same time, I could also see myself working in a lab, where I could test new drugs. I think I’m leaning towards the kids right now, though.
In terms of where I want to live, I love to think that I could live on a beach in North Carolina, where I could finally learn to surf and take my dog(s) on morning runs on the beach. Realistically, though, I’ll probably end up living around this area, as there are many major pharmaceutical companies in the Northeast. Compared to the other states I’ve visited, New Jersey is kind of a sad state to look at, if looking through a nature lens. Even Delaware has beautiful state parks, and is an overall pretty state, and it’s like what? A mile or two long? I’ve never seen myself continuing to live in New Jersey, but hey, plans change.
The only definite aspect of my future is that I will have a dog. Or four. Depends on where I live. I have never had a dog as a kid, but literally everyone around me has had one. That’s really all I want in life: my own dog.
In the future, I hope to become a more positive person, and to generally be happier overall. College is great, overall, and I love being with my friends, but I’m ready for a less stressful lifestyle, where I don’t have schedule time for relaxation on the weekends. I know ‘adulting’ can be a challenge, but my job won’t make me sit through a three hour chemistry test. On Halloween. After a two hour calculus exam.
The future looks pretty bright, if I look at it like that.
