Chris Metzler by Joanna Lee

Chris is a civil engineering major born and raised just outside of Philadelphia. He was inspired by his older sister who was also a civil engineering major. At home, he lives with his parents, two sisters and a brother, and his pet hedgehog. Growing up, Chris was always very athletic, playing sports such as volleyball in high school. He continues this passion through playing club volleyball at the University of Delaware. He also spends much of his time surfing. Although he does not remember when exactly he started, he says he has  been surfing for as long as he can remember. He mentioned that he once had the opportunity to catch some waves in Costa Rica while on a trip. Chris spends most of his summers at the beach which also fueled his interests in surfing.

Chris does not typically watch much television in his downtime but mentioned that he never passes on an opportunity to watch Impractical Jokers. Rather than watching TV, Chris usually spends his free time listening to rap or country music and scrolling through Reddit.

When asked how he sees himself ten years into the future, Chris responded that he hopes to be working as a civil engineer and possibly starting a family.  Although he can’t imagine this happening within the following ten years, Chris stated that he wants three children; ideally all boys. He aspires to train all of his children into strong athletes much like himself.

Joanna Lee by Kyle Regan

In our short but informative conversation, Joanna seemed to be an adventurous, free-spirited person, and genuine person. She was influenced by her older cousin who is an occupational therapist to endeavor into the major of occupational therapy. After her classes are done she likes to rock climb in the University of Delaware’s Lil Bob Gym and on the weekends in the Delaware Rock Gym which has larger walls to climb. One of her other favorite hobbies is photography which drove her to become a photographer for a fashion magazine. She even went on a road trip to Canada and took pictures of the scenery she witnessed throughout the trip. Some of the most fascinating facts that I learned about Joanna was that she is fluent in Korean, trying to learn sign language, and dabbles in French and Spanish. With her fluency in Korean, she watches Korean medical dramas because she described them as “being really well made.”

Joanna takes trips to Guatemala as a volunteer to help teach orphans music and English. These trips show that Joanna has a truly kind heart and wants to help those around her. Once she is done with her “3 + 2” occupational therapy program and has a stable income, she wants to start a family and adopt children because of her experiences at the orphanages in Guatemala. Finally, in the group conversation a question was asked about how one prepares their cereal and Joanna answered that she pours the milk before the cereal. This fact is interesting because the mainstream way people prepare their cereal is pouring the milk after the cereal, however Joanna does not follow that and pours her milk first.

Kyle Regan by Chris Metzler

Kyle is from North Jersey, only about a 20 minute drive from New York City.  He is the youngest of three children, with a brother who designs baseball cards, and a sister who is a nurse.  At home, he has a white and grey pet cat named Hercules, and fifteen different fish. At school, he is studying electrical engineering, and has found an interest in the aerospace club, whose meetings he likes to attend.

Coming from North Jersey, Kyle is a big fan of New York sports teams.  An ideal night for him would be watching the Yankees play during the summer, but he sometimes has to go to Mets games since tickets can be as cheap as $5.  At school, his perfect night would involve coming home, looking at his homework, which he will most definitely opt to not complete, then chilling with his floor in the lounge.  If he wants it to be really perfect, he might even watch his favorite movie, Good Will Hunting.

If prompted, Kyle’s go-to party trick would be juggling.  He can only juggle three things at a time currently, but would like to increase the amount of objects at some point later in life.  His other cool talent includes drumming, which he has found enjoyment in since a young age. Another thing you likely won’t know about Kyle is that his favorite color is orange, since he does not own anything in that color.  He is not even sure why orange is his favorite but it could, however, be related to his favorite animal, the jaguar.
